CONFERENCE FINISHED
Climate change: more atmospheric hazards. Are we ready?
The conference will be held in Espanish.
On International Climate Change Day*, Jorge Olcina, Professor of Geography and Director of the Climatology Laboratory of the University of Alicante, He will talk about the development of climate change adaptation programs that minimize the consequences of a global process of regional impact remarkable in the lands of the Mediterranean.
The current process of anthropogenic greenhouse warming is causing changes in atmospheric dynamics itself. There are more frequent and energetic processes of readjustment of the planetary energy balance, which manifest themselves in the form of meteorological hazards that alter the functioning of societies.
The Mediterranean region is a hotspot of climate change at a global level that already shows evidence that causes extreme atmospheric events. It is essential to develop climate change adaptation programs that minimize the consequences of a global process of notable regional impact in the lands of the Mediterranean.
Presented by José Luis Rubio, member of the Committee of Experts of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències.
Program:
6.30: Access to the room
7.00: Lecture at the Santiago Grisolía Auditorium
8.00: End of the conference and start of the colloquium
*Although this anniversary has not been explicitly approved by the United Nations resolution – such as “International Mother Earth Day” (April 22) or “World Environment Day” (5 June), its impact and dissemination is very important. With this, it is an initiative supported by the UN in order to generate actions to counteract.
