PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION ‘ASTROCIUTAT. THE UNIVERSE IN IMAGES’
The exhibition ‘ASTROCIUTAT. The universe in images’ is the result of the first astrophotography competition organised by the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, with the aim of bringing science closer to the public, promoting its dissemination and involving citizens in its relevance through different modalities.
Astrophotography, a discipline that fuses art with science, has its origins in 1840, when John William Draper captured the first image of the moon. Since then, this practice has aroused the fascination of scientists and amateurs alike.
The exhibition brings together the two first- and second-prize winning photographs from each of the five categories of the competition: Deep Sky, Circumpolar, Moon, Sun and Milky Way. Each image is a window into the cosmos, an invitation to reflect on our place in the universe and a celebration of the talent and passion of those who dedicate their time to capturing the beauty of space.
The exhibition is open to the public in the Calle Menor of the Museu de les Ciències.
