PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION ‘ASTROCIUTAT. THE UNIVERSE IN IMAGES’

The Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències presents the second edition of the international astrophotography contest Astrociutat. The Universe in Images, an initiative that combines science, art, and outreach to share the public’s fascination with the cosmos.

The 10 winning photographs —first and second prize in the five contest categories (Deep Sky, Circumpolar, Moon, Sun, and Milky Way)— are exhibited in Calle Menor at the Museu de les Ciències, an open-access space. The exhibition aims to inspire, educate, and highlight the importance of astronomy to the public.

Astrophotography, a discipline that unites artistic sensitivity with scientific rigor, was born in 1840 when John William Draper captured the first image of the Moon. Since then, it has captivated both researchers and enthusiasts around the world.

The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Sony, FotoAstro González, and the Valencian Astronomy Association (AVA), and is part of the special program dedicated to space as part of the XXV Anniversary of the Museu de les Ciències.
