The Museu de les Ciències presents Dance! The Art of Movement, an interactive exhibition that invites visitors to discover dance as a universal language.

Created by the Cité des sciences et de l’industrie in collaboration with the Centre National de la Danse, this exhibition shows that dance is accessible to everyone, regardless of age or ability. Here, visitors do not just observe: they participate, experiment and create.

Three ways to experience dance

The exhibition is organised into three movements:

1. SPIN: The Origin of Movement

.

Circular motion as the origin of dance.
Interactive installations and collective experiences that explore space, rhythm and body expression.

2. JUMP: Defying Gravity

.

The body in suspension.
Activities that analyse momentum, gravity and the energy of jumping through participatory experiences.

3. GATHER: Dance as Social Connection

.

Dance is a shared experience that creates bonds, emotions and collective memory. Choreographies, real-time avatars and experiences that celebrate dance.

• • Dancing Ring: the exhibition’s central activity, together with interactive installations that capture visitors’ movements, transforms the Museu into a space where the public not only observes, but also dances, experiments and creates. Sessions every 30 minutes to learn three dances: branle, waltz and disco.
  • Dance via Avatar: visitors’ movements are transformed into avatars projected in real time.
  • The Dance of the Shoes: a visual journey through different types of dance footwear and their uses.
  • Dance Matters: an audiovisual piece exploring the cultural and emotional dimension of dance.
