LECTURE AND ROUNDTABLE: “LEONARDO. THE MYTH AS A LEGACY”
As part of the 25th anniversary of the Museu de les Ciències and the exhibition “Leonardo da Vinci: 500 Years of Genius”, the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències is hosting a very special event dedicated to one of history’s greatest visionaries.
An opportunity to discover Leonardo da Vinci from a contemporary perspective, connecting the past, present, and future through his brilliance. The event will combine a lecture by expert Claudio Giorgione with a roundtable moderated by Christian Gálvez, presenter, science communicator, and renowned Leonardo specialist.
The afternoon will begin with a talk by Claudio Giorgione, art historian and head of exhibitions at the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan. He will present “Leonardo da Vinci: The Culture of Machines in the Renaissance”, exploring how Leonardo’s technical and scientific work was integrated into the cultural context of his time and revealing the dialogue between art, science, and technology that characterized the Renaissance.
This will be followed by a roundtable moderated by Christian Gálvez, featuring:
-
Claudio Giorgione, art historian, exhibitions manager, and curator of the “Leonardo, Art and Science” department at the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.
-
José Manuel Nieves, journalist and science communicator specializing in Science and New Technologies, regular contributor to media outlets such as ABC, Telemadrid, and Cuarto Milenio. Author of Hablemos de Ciencia (Edaf) and creator of a science communication YouTube channel with over 140,000 subscribers.
-
José Antonio Lorente Acosta, Professor of Forensic and Legal Medicine at the University of Granada and member of the Leonardo DNA Project, dedicated to the genetic study of the artist.
An enriching conversation that will explore the many facets of Leonardo—the inventor, the scientist, the artist, and the human being—analyzing his influence on contemporary culture and science.
This event is part of the 25th-anniversary program at the Museu de les Ciències and complements the exhibition “Leonardo da Vinci: 500 Years of Genius”, on view on the museum’s first floor, as well as the Leonardo-themed projection at the Hemisfèric.
A unique opportunity to delve into the world of a genius who continues to inspire innovation, art, and knowledge five centuries later.
