EXPLORERS OF TOMORROW

The Museu de les Ciències is celebrating 25 years of sharing science, knowledge, and curiosity. And it’s marking the occasion with a very special event: a conference on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 7:00 PM, in the Santiago Grisolía Auditorium, featuring two leading international figures in space exploration. A unique opportunity to look together toward the challenges that lie ahead in our journey through the universe.

Elizabeth Córdoba, systems engineer at NASA, will introduce us to Europa Clipper, a mission searching for signs of life on one of Jupiter’s icy moons, and explain how fast, innovative missions like Space Safari are changing the way we explore space.

José Lorenzo Álvarez, mission lead for ESA’s PLATO project, will take us beyond the solar system in search of Earth-like exoplanets. With experience in major missions such as James Webb and Euclid, he will show how science is rewriting what we know about the cosmos.

Together, they will guide us through a fascinating journey across some of the most ambitious missions of our time and the cutting-edge technologies shaping humanity’s path to new worlds.

The conference will be moderated by Fernando Doblas, former Director of Communication at the European Space Agency (ESA). An industrial engineer by training, Doblas has developed a long-standing career in the European space sector, holding key positions at ESA such as Head of Industrial Relations, ESA representative at the European Spaceport, the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), Advisor to the Director General on innovation, and creator of the Agency’s SME Initiative. He was also one of the driving forces behind the “Soyuz at CSG” programme and transformed ESA’s institutional communication, achieving major milestones such as the Rosetta mission.

A talk to discover, be inspired, and understand how we are preparing to take our next steps among the stars.
